I mailed off this little matchbox to my partner in my Swap-bot group Summer Matchbox Swap today. That swap is now finished, but if you want to join in on the fun you can sign up for my public Summer Fun Matchbox Swap. You have to be a member of Swap-bot to participate and you must get signed up by next Friday. I like making the matchboxes because they are so quick and easy, but still allow you to be creative. Here is the link to my free matchbox template if you want to try constructing one from scratch. I think I am going to work on a new template for a matchbox that opens more like an envelope, instead of sliding out the inner tray… I’ll let you know when it is available.
Lately, I have been really motivated to be healthier. This is the salad I had for lunch today. It had a lot of chickpeas on it because they a rich in iron, fiber, folic acid, and protein. I think some studies have even shown they also reduce cholesterol, which is important for me. I am going to try to eat them much more often. I have a family history of heart disease, so I have been working hard to eat heart-healthy. I have no problem limiting (or even completely cutting out) things like red meat and butter, but I have struggled to reduce the amount of cheese and chocolate in my diet. Sweets are something I don’t think I will ever be able to eliminate completely. Hmmmm. Any tips? In good news, I have been doing really well this week with my exercise. In addition to taking Crusher out for long walks, I have been doing the Bodies in Motion with Gilad workouts on FitTv for an hour every day. Gilad is goofy, but I really have fun doing the workouts – I literally laugh out loud and the time passes really quickly. I definitely recommend them! I have a goal to do them every weekday for six weeks just to see if I can get the results he is always touting. I want those six-pack abs!!
