kate spade the author!

I first saw these books at Fred Flare. (It is an on-line store that sells all sorts of fun random things.) Three titles: Style, Occasions, and Manners, all by Kate Spade! You can get them cheaper at amazon… and don’t worry, I already added them to my wish list! I had previously heard of a photo book she (Spade) had done that revealed what different celebrities carry in their handbags, but I can’t seem to find that one on amazon… hmmmm…

my custom running shoes

I need new running shoes pretty bad for my training and I haven’t been able to find ones I like anywhere. I went looking at Nike.com and found NikeID. You can custom design your own shoes with all sorts of colors and different materials. The best part is that they aren’t any more expensive than the originals. This is an artist/runner’s dream! I think I will order a pair, but it will take me a while to make my final design decision!

shadow boxing

img_memory1_1080575398.jpg

I love these shadow boxes from Pottery Barn, but I haven’t bought one for myself yet.

I bought one for my friend Jen for her birthday, but it turned out I picked up the natural wood color instead of the mahogany! That was dissapointing. Mahogany would match her house better. I hope she still likes it. She likes scrapbooking and crafts, so I thought this would be an extension of that.

I would like to get a white one and put mementos and photos from my wedding in it, along with a program or an invitation. The only problem is that I have so much ‘wedding memory’ stuff now! I think 4 albums and 3 framed photos is bordering on over-kill.

spring cleaning/re-designing

littlebanner_1080534973.jpg

I worked on my website today (with Travis’ help). I made the new banner seen in small version here. If you don’t see it at the top of my blog you might need to refresh or re-type my web address. I also worked on my about me page. Check it out and see if I have any huge grammatical or spelling errors. I have not finished my resume page, and the 100 things page is far from finished, but I feel like I got a lot done. I hope you like the new changes. Let me know what you think!

the hazards of professional sleeping

Mar 26th 2004 04:15:32 am

I have to start this little story off by telling you that my husband often says I could be a professional sleeper… because I like to sleep… a lot. Sometimes over-sleeping causes me to have weird dreams.

Anyway, two nights ago I had a dream that Travis and I had a baby boy (which is weird because I always think we will have a girl first), but we had forgotten what his name was. This is what I finally remembered it was:

Adam Milo Che Johnson

Print Gocco

printgocco_1079967982.jpg

I first learned of the Print Gocco at Paper Source…. It is like a mini printing press. You make original ‘plates’ and then can print off as many copies as you would like. And the best part is that you can use any color of ink, including white! I must have this for use on the shower and wedding invitations I am making this spring!

Today I spent the morning (and early afternoon) making Martha’s Brownie Cupcakes and Coconut Cupcakes. I also made the Cream Cheese Fosting and dyed it blue. This is a test run for the cupcakes tower I want to make for a baby shower I am co-hosting in May. I am going to take them over to my parents house for a taste-testing. I hope everyone likes them because they are so CUTE!

quickly reaching pink overload!

jcrewskirt_1079622069.jpg

I have wanted this skirt ever since the first time I saw it in the first J.Crew spring catalog… And spring catalogs come out in early winter, mind you. Sadly, none of our local stores were carrying it and didn’t know when they would get it in, and before you knew it, the skirt was back ordered in the catalog! So to make a super-long, completely interesting story a bit shorter, I put my name on a waiting list…. And guess what, they found it! It was in Austin, Texas and it was a size 4, but I didn’t have to pay shipping, so I went for it! Miracle of miracles, it fits! (I’m usually a 6) Now, my only dilema is finding shoes that look cute with it. I have been eyeing these from banana, but ofcourse, they are all sold out in pink! Oh well, I guess I’ll save some money…

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Mar 17th 2004 03:26:08 pm

shamrock.jpg

It is St. Patrick’s Day, so to celebrate I want everyone to write in and tell the most Irish thing that happened to you today. I am wearing a green shirt and I am going to make beer bread for dinner. Oh, and I made this shamrock, i know, it is awesome. That is about as Irish as I am going to get, I think. I can’t think of any Irish sayings, except for ‘blarney stone’, otherwise I would end with one…. sorry. Have a fun day!

blog improvements

Mar 16th 2004 03:19:34 pm

You may have noticed that I have been slowly trying to improve my blog and overall website. Here are my ultimate plans:

- Include my training schedule and some ‘currently’ info on the left side bar under the new medallion.

- Put some more questions on the style quiz and create really cool intricate profiles for the results. Also, put links back to all of the other pages on the style quiz.

- Make and ‘about me page’. You may have noticed there is nothing there. I want to have my resume, a little description page, and a page with 100 things about me.

- I want my portfolio page to have three sections, graphic design, painting, and paper products. I will include well organized galleries of my work in each section.

- Eventually I would like to have a shop, but that is far in the future.

What do you think? Tell me your suggestions on how to make my site the best on the web!

I'm Rachel and this is my website. It is where I write about art, crafts, design, New York City, and generally share probably a little too much about my daily life. Enjoy!
