First off… I bought the poncho featured in this previous entry. Except I got a blue and brown striped one. It is a little more low key than the bright pink, but still cute. I wore it out to the movies last night with Aaron & Travis. We saw The Day After Tomorrow. It was exciting!

Second, I finally ran with my running group today (went 6 miles – but had to walk a bit), and I am planning on signing up for the Amy Thompson Run to Daylight 5K. The race is on Monday morning.

Last, Travis still doesn’t think it is a good idea to get a puppy, but I am supposed to retract my statement of him not liking dogs. He does like dogs, just not when they lick him.

poor computer

May 27th 2004 01:36:35 pm

If you have been reading Travis’ blog, you know that my computer has been broken. I was nervous about letting Travis fix it, but it seems to be working great now! I lost all of my stuff like website images and my emails and my browser favorites, but now I have a bigger hard drive and it seems to run faster. I guess Travis really is a computer genius!

my puppy…

Travis let me go to the puppy store today and I saw the cutest little puppy ever! They called it a Chorkie because it was a mix between a Chihuahua and a Yorkshire Terrier. It was only 8 weeks old and it was so small. It couldn’t have been 2 pounds. I got to hold it and play with it a bit, but I didn’t get to buy it. Travis doesn’t exactly likes dogs and we both might be a little allergic. (It also cost over $500!) I loved that dog, though. It was the cutest thing in the world. It was so fragile. I would have loved it forever!

That is what is bad with going to the puppy store… I always leave feeling so sorry for myself because I can’t have a puppy…

Guess what just came out! Daily Candy Chicago! It gives you tips on all of the hottest spots & happenings in the windy city… Just in time for it to help in the planning of my trip to Chicago with Travis for our anniversary. I am also planning a visit and tour of the School of the Art Institute some time during the trip.

finally, a good day!

newpin_1084509476.jpg

so today started out like the worst day ever. what’s new. but miracle of miracles, it has turned around! it just might be the best day ever!

some things that happened:

~ drank a soda…. ok, this may not sound like much, but i have been off caffeine for 3 weeks, so a soda feels pretty good.

~ the big huge deal: i got a raise! a big one! and it just came out of the blue! my bosses just said i deserved it because i have almost been there a year non-stop and i do a lot of good work for them. amazing!

~ travis bought me flowers because he thought i was having a terrible day, but they turned out to be congrats-on-the-raise flowers!

~ we went to eat a sushi house (to celebrate the raise), a plus on its own, but we ran into travis’ boss there, and guess what…. he payed our bill! can you believe that?!

~ got to go to the mall. i like the mall. especially on thurs. nights because it is not crowded. i purchased a pigment-dyed t-shirt from j.crew (which i am wearing tomorrow), and the sparkly pin you see me sporting above.

~ came home and watched the taped survivor special and Rupert won! he is the one i voted for and i cried when he one because i was happy for him. (we also watched CSI.)

so it turned out to be a pretty good day. the only bad thing is that i did not go for my run like i was supposed to, but the guilt is not going to ruin today. (i’ll save it for tomorrow.) i go to sleep happy tonight!

we’ve named him jimmy buffet….

Just in time for Mother’s Day, I have become the proud parent of the cutest little lime tree in the world! I will tell you the story…

Last night, Travis and I were out trying to attend First Friday downtown, but I was in a bad mood and every place was too crowded, so we walked back to our car. We just happened to be parked by Studio Dan Meiners, which just happens to be the coolest florist in KC, so we stopped in.

I have wanted a citrus tree ever since I saw them on Martha Stewart… and what was sitting right outside Dan Meiners… the cutest little citrus trees! They had all varieties: Varigated Lemon, Meyer Lemon, Pinapple Orange, and my personal pick, Key Lime! Hence the name Jimmy Buffet. (He likes the Florida Keys, right?)

Of course, we also had to pick up a beautiful planter for him to live in. Isn’t he the cutest?!

I ran with my running group this morning. we went 6 miles (well some people did a lot more, but I did 6). I am planning on training for a half-marathon in the fall. The Des Moines Half-Marathon, to be exact. It is October 17th and it is supposed to be a great race.

poncho & paisley

The J. Crew paisley pants are fun, but I am still trying to decide whether or not i could wear them. They also have a paisley jacket, swimsuit, dress & shorts.

Now, the Banana Republic poncho, on the other hand, is fabulous! I wish I had the guts to wear a poncho. I have seen them at BCBG and there is this great website for ponchos.

What do you think about these two looks?

who would’ve known

creamchees_1083679198.jpg

I have never liked cream cheese. I never really ate it at all. I only recently have even ventured into the flavored kinds at Bagel & Bagel and Panera….but the other day at Target I decided I wanted some mini bagels to take to work for lunch, and I grabbed some plain light Philadelphia Cream Cheese. I know, I am weird with the foods I decide to buy. Anyway, who would’ve known, it is really good! I am eating a mini blueberry bagel with cream cheese right now for breakfast! yum!

blossom_1083640495.jpg

Last spring at this time I was working on sending out the invitations to my wedding… I was searching desperately for pink card stock on which to print the RSVPs, but to no avail. Paper Source certainly wasn’t carrying any.

And what do I find this spring? Paper source is now carrying a perfect bubble-gummy pink they call blossom. Thanks, but it is a bit late. I had to print most of my RSVPs on the strawberry color.

They are carrying a lot of new lovely colors now, though. I have already bought a bit of the pool and sky, and i am really loving the new jadite.
