no mo’ NaBloPoMo

Nov 30th 2007 09:52:49 pm

Guess what today is…. It is the very last day of National Blog Posting Month 2008! And I made it all the way to the end with 30 successful blog posts. I am so proud. I am also happy that the month is completed. I love my little bloggity blog, but every day can be a bit difficult. Congrats to everyone who made it the entire month!

In other big news, the company where I am now working had an important meeting today. It was at a restaurant downtown and the future plans of the company were discussed. I took a few photos and I promised that at least one would end up on the internet. Here is one of the art department ladies:

From left to right: Carmen, art director (my boss); me, graphic designer; Anna, design coordinator (also my boss); Mary and Nancy, graphic designers. Everyone is very nice and I am having a really nice time at work so far.

All is still good around here, but I did manage to run completely out of time today. I gotta get to sleep and I don’t have time to make a cool blog post. darn. There is only one more day of NaBloPoMo and I am going to make it! To give this post meaning, here is a link to a funny video. (I found it via the always entertaining Swap-bot Forums.)

swedish!

Nov 27th 2007 11:25:37 pm

so… I have some good news! I was offered a full time position at the design company where I have been working freelance-ish for the last month. I am very excited because I have been really enjoying the work and the people there. The office is within walking distance of my house (I have walked there for the past few days) and I will be working on all sorts of fun digital photo and scrapbooking stuff. Photoshop all day long. Just about my dream job!

In celebration Travis bought me two Chrstmas-y Pottery Barn Swedish House pillow covers. I really dig them. Travis also likes them because he is of Swedish heritage and he feel they connect him to his ancestors. ha!

Today was a good day.

pretty packages

Nov 26th 2007 09:31:17 pm

Look at these two adorable packages! They were what I found in my package from Artunderastar for the Colors of the Sea Matchbox Swap on Swap-bot. The blue and green box and goodies were made for the swap and the Christmas-them one is just an extra bonus. How sweet! I had so much fun opening the little parcels and discovering all the small treasures. I even put the mini ornaments on our Christmas tree!

Two other great swap packages also arrived recently. The photo above on the left is of all the things sent by Alwaysjoy for the “I Love Swap-bot” swap. I love the gel pens and all the scrapbooking embellishments she sent. I am also impressed by the butterfly illustration she did on the denim tote bag. Very pretty! The photo on the right shows the adorable box I received for the Super Sweet Kawaii Matchbox Swap from KimyCate. She sent all sorts of great stickers and some really cute stick gum, but my favorite thing is a super-tiny Hello Kitty eraser she included. Too cute for words!

Well, Swap-bot was was seriously slow (almost totally dead) for the last two days due to a problem at our hosting company. Man, was I ever bummed! I think I was experiencing major Swap-bot Forums withdrawal symptoms. The time away from the computer gave me lots of time to complete my matchboxes yesterday, but thank goodness things are back to normal now! It turns out that administrating Swap-bot is pretty much my life… and life is good.

matchboxes galore

Nov 25th 2007 05:45:07 pm

I have bunches of swaps coming due next week and I have finally completed all of the corresponding matchboxes. I even made some extras so that I can angel for my Christmas (fun) Time Matchbox Swap. I used some great glitter paper in a bunch of these boxes and finished them off with some fun accent paper and embellishments. Chipboard buttons and glittery brads are my friends!

(p.s. Yes, Swap-bot has been down today. We are working on it.)

check out some new blogs

Nov 24th 2007 08:57:10 pm

I am participating in the Exchange Website Reviews and Links swap on Swap-bot. For the swap each person reviews the blog or website of three other people in the swap. The purpose of the swap is to discover new blogs and to increase traffic to your site by receiving links from your partners’ sites. Following are my reviews of my three partners’ blogs:

Simone’s Butterfly

Simone’s Butterfly is the blog of Simone who has been keeping the online journal since October of 2006. her blog is dedicated to personal growth, health and wellness, swaps, and everyday-type stuff. She recently posted about digital scrapbooking which I find interesting, and she posts lovely photographs for “Wordless Wednesdays”. Overall her blog is very honest and inspirational.

Evey-in-orbit

Evey-in-orbit is the portfolio website of Veronica. Veronica is a self-taught artist who paints, takes photographs, and makes ATCs. She has been making ATCs since 2003 and her cards are very unique and beautiful. The ATC portfolio page is an inspiring accomplishment. She is also a member the creator of CraftBake, a group which meets monthly to eat treats and work on creative, crafty projects. Her website showcases her artwork and skills in an elegant way. It loads fast and is very easy to navigate. Veronica has also recently started a studio blog, which she will hopefully continue to update.

Colors City

Colors City is the blog of Ciyou who lives in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The blog was started in November of 2004 and it covers all sorts of cute and colorful crafts. I love the most recent post about Christmas crafts! Ciyou has discovered lots of great websites and links to all kinds of fun, interesting, and cute things. I even bookmarked a few of the sites I discovered while reading Colors City! Ciyou’s blog is a great site to read if you are interested in crafts, cute things, and swaps. It is definitely going on my list of bookmarks!

a real tree

Nov 23rd 2007 09:47:47 pm

We picked up our fresh cut Christmas tree today. (We didn’t cut it down ourselves, but a pre-cut real tree seems pretty adventurous just the same.) It is a really cute Nordman Fir. We already decorated it with our small stash of ornaments. I am pretty much in love with how the tree looks in our house. It really fills out the entry area and it smells nice. Bring on Christmas!

happy thanksgiving

Nov 22nd 2007 11:47:01 pm

Hope everyone had a nice day. Travis and I hung out together. We had pancakes in the morning and went to the Oregon Electric Station for dinner. It was good, but I have been feeling down today. We watched our traditional holiday movie, Love Actually, this evening which cheered me up a bit… but I am still not feeling the requisite level of thankfulness… sorry. Maybe tomorrow.

i am behind on my swap reporting…

Nov 21st 2007 11:03:18 pm

Travis and I got a PO Box a few months ago to when swapping or doing other internet things. I am really happy we decided to get one, but I have not yet gotten in the habit of checking it on a regular basis. My swap packages have been piling up. Above you will see the contents of two packages I picked up last week.

On the left is what was sent to me from OrigamiGrace for the For the Birds! Matchbox Swap. (I haven’t even sent my items for this swap yet!) I love the little parakeet buttons and the pot of lavender & lemon verbena hand salve she included. It smells awesome!

On the right is the matchbox package sent by carys all the way from the UK for the Pink Plus One Other Color Matchbox Swap. She chose red and pink as her color combo. The leather star bracelet is my favorite. I put it on as soon as I opened the package! I also love the glass heart she sent and all of the pink ribbon and beads.

For those of you who don’t swap I am sure that these posts are less than thrilling… but I like keeping a record of what I send and receive when possible. Plus, I like showing off all the cool things that my swap partners send from all over the world! I have three more swaps that I picked up from the PO box today that I will be showing off soon. (I also have a ton of swaps to get in the mail. I am a bit behind, but I haven’t missed any deadlines yet!)
